A public expression of your faith in Jesus – showing the world you’re all in as His follower.
We love celebrating when kids and students take the exciting step of going public with their faith!
At BridgePoint, we believe no one has more influence in a kid or student’s spiritual journey than their parents—which is why your involvement in their baptism is so important. To help you walk alongside your kid or student, here’s what to do if they’ve expressed interest in being baptized.
Start by having a conversation with your child using these questions to help discern if they’re ready:
If you feel your kid or student is ready to take this step, we invite you both to attend a baptism class together. Every kid or student must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the class.
Our next class will be held September 7, at 9am.
At BridgePoint, we look at baptism as a grand announcement… a proclamation...a celebration!
The Bible teaches that everyone who has trusted Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins and the leadership of their life should be baptized (Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38–41). Baptism is an outward expression of an inward commitment to follow Christ.
For a child to be baptized, they should be old enough to share their story and talk about how Jesus has changed their life. As a parent, you know your child best, so you may choose to wait until they’re mature enough to fully understand and make that decision for themselves. We do not baptize children without a parent’s consent.
Scripture teaches that baptism is a public declaration of personal faith in Jesus—something meant to be seen and understood by others. As you consider whether your kid or student is ready, reflect on these questions:
If the answer to these questions is “yes,” it’s a good sign they may be ready for baptism. If not, it might be best to wait and continue encouraging their spiritual growth.
